For the whole family
Johnathan Sherriff, the sales manager at Suzuki Centurion, is not just a sales manager, he is a Suzuki specialist. Everything I needed to learn about the brand, he taught me. I enjoyed driving all my Suzuki’s from this dealership because he guided me on the product when I first started writing Suzuki reviews. It is our pleasure to be teaming up with their amazing dealership once again, where customer service comes first and foremost. We are excited in bringing all that there is to know about Suzuki to you.

The Concept
Suzuki is slowly migrating their vehicles from die-hard, wild warriors to sleek, attractive and useful urban conquerers, and I must say I’m growing quite fond of this new development. The fourth-generation Suzuki Vitara is a compact crossover SUV popular among value-conscious buyers and doesn’t compromise when it comes to features or driving pleasure. More sought after in today’s times, the Vitara will surely be a hit among women thanks to its sleek styling, ample size and abundance of comfort. What I like about it is that it offers lots of space, class-leading fuel efficiency, and low running costs.

The Look
The first thing I noticed about the Vitara was its attractive front - it has a sharp and edgy appearance. Not much has changed from its predecessor but I think that’s good, too - why mess with an already perfect, and totally delectable recipe? A clamshell bonnet, stylish bumper and a chrome grille are just a few key ingredients in this stunning SUV’s composition. 17-inch alloys are nestled in striking wheel arch extensions to give it a self-assured stance and confident road presence. The headlights are fitted with LED projector (low beam) and Halogen multi-reflector (high beam) lights as well as an automatic levelling device and daytime running lamps. A prominent pair of front fog lights and LED rear combination lights frames it off with an elegant aesthetic. Silver roof rails are exclusive to the GLX and pays tribute to its sporty and athletic nature.

The Feel
A feature that all women will appreciate is its length, which translates to a spacious interior. It’s roomy enough to accommodate a medium sized family (it had no problems to accommodate my family that consists of a towering husband and two teenagers) so the everyday commute won’t be a problem and family holidays will also happen in utmost comfort. Fitting school projects and sports gear into the boot won’t be a problem either, thanks to its 375-litre capacity, and you won’t be fumbling thanks to the electromagnetic tail gate. Bulky items and odd-shaped paraphernalia can also be accommodated by the 60:40 rear seat split, which also allows the boot too expand to a sizable 1 120 litres. I noticed that the leather wrapped steering wheel is exceptionally comfortable and has audio controls, cruise control, a speed limiter control and a hands-free phone control. It is able to adjust tilt as well as telescope, and the paddle shifters complete the look with a sleek finish. Visibility is fantastic thanks to the high seating position and sizable windows. The GLX not only features a panoramic sunroof with a sliding function, but also suede and synthetic leather upholstery to provide it with a quality and stylish interior.

The Features
The touchscreen infotainment system is equipped with smartphone integration, a reverse camera, front and rear speakers as well as tweeters in the front. Safety feature include ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, a brake assist function, four front-end parking sensors and four rear sensors, SRS front dual airbags, front side airbags, curtain airbags, driver’s knee airbag, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, child seat tether anchorages, childproof rear door locks, a security alarm and am immobilizer. Furthermore, it is also integrated with side impact door beams to absorb impact during a collision and to protect the passengers. It also has cruise control, a speed limiter, automatic wipers, front and rear electric windows, central locking, a keyless push start system, automatic air conditioning, a heater and a pollen filter for those sensitive to the sniffles.

The Drive
This 1.6 VVT engine is able to crank out 86kW of power and 156Nm of torque to give you enough shove to blend into traffic and conquer mild African terrains over weekends (it also has plenty of driver’s aids to assist you when you decide to venture of the beaten track). Fuel consumption is decent, and with the 6.2-litre per 100km usage you will surely be getting more kilometres for your money. I enjoyed the driving experience - the suspension is soft, the steering is direct and cornering is stable and zippy. The Vitara also features an AllGrip 4WD system which allows you to select between four driving modes – Auto, Sport, Mud and Lock – which enables you to get the most out of your vehicle. It provides you with utmost flexibility and the opportunity to enjoy each and every trip, no matter the terrain, and without costing you an arm and a leg. I think the Vitara is an ultimate and ideal vehicle for a traditional family who regularly enjoy life’s thrills. It will definitely be stealing a few hearts, just as it rightfully did so with mine.
