Desire to deliver
Prancing around town it the proud title of being their best seller, the Suzuki Swift has seen many successes in South Africa. The Dzire was part of this prosperous bandwagon but the Japanese did some work on it and presented it as a standalone and not a Swift Dzire. It’s definitely not just a Swift with a larger cargo capacity. The team at Suzuki Centurion absolutely adore this vehicle and were elated to tell me more about its generous offerings. It was also right up their alley, enlightening and educating their clients on their brand is one of their passions.
The Suzuki Dzire can be described as a vehicle ready to impress. This clean-cut edan is no mess and no fuss type of vehicle that is guaranteed to provide you with safe and happy trips. It’s versatile enough to be appealing towards retirees or can also be seen as a perfect candidate for company or car-pooling vehicles. It’s sure to make its mark in the budget car segment, big boot and all.
Simple styling is quite common on small, budget-conscious family sedans but I must say that I especially like the Dzire’s appearance. Its compact and its curvaceous physique kind of reminds me of a round-faced toddler whose proverbial chubby cheeks you just want to squeeze… I’m digressing… With a shiny silver grille surround, alloy looking wheel caps and wide headlights, the Dzire has all the components to make up a stylish family transporter. Halogen headlights feature a multi-reflector and positioning as standard and the AGS also has a set of frontal fog lights for extra illumination in hazy driving conditions. Overall, the Dzire is a small vehicle with it unique character and spunk and this is why I know that it will be adored by South Africans, I know it surely captured my heart.
More utility centred, the cabin of the Dzire is made up of durable materials and long-lasting coverings that have all been neatly laid out for a minimalistic and breezy feel. I must say that I like the instrument cluster, it’s sporty and adds a bit of pizzazz to the interior to lighten up the cabin of the Dzire’s. The wheel steering wheel has a tilt adjustability and also features audio controls and hands-free phone control. Visibility plays a big role to ensure safety and the Dzire’s is notable for a sedan. This is due to skinny pillars and big windows, so that is one worry you can scratch out of your checklist.
Space is plentiful when compared to a traditional hatch and passengers will benefit from an abundance of legroom, taller folks don’t have to worry about sitting with their knees next to their ears, there’s more than enough room for lanky legs. It has a 378-litre boot which isn’t able to expand as the rear seat is fixed but it still provides more than enough cargo capacity for the family to load their daily luggage such as purses, laptop bags and sports gear. A nifty luggage area light and electromagnetic tailgate opener allows for quick and convenient loading and unloading.
To enhance the driving experience and overall pleasantness of the trip, the Dzire is equipped with a manual air conditioning system, a heater, pollen filter and a sound system for the karaoke concerts. Standard safety bells and whistles include ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and SRS front dual airbags. ISOFIX child seat anchorages, childproof rear door locks, central door locking and remote-control door locks have also been included to ensure that the family will enjoy their trips with peace of mind knowing that they are safe and secure. The Dzire also has side impact door beams, an engine immobiliser and a security alarm for additional protection. Additionally, the AGS has electric windows, rear ventilation, MP3/WMA compatible CD player, and Bluetooth Connectivity.
The Suzuki Dzire is manufactured with a gutsy 1.2-litre engine. This engine although small, allows it to produce a hearty 61Kw of power and 113Nm of torque. it is available in 5 speed manual and 5AGS transmission which combined with its light kerb weight, doesn’t only allows for energetic city driving but a ridiculously low fuel consumption of 4.9-litre per 100km. This will be sure to save you valuable moola and I know for a fact that we all can do with a bit more suga, especially in these current political climates.
The steering has a small turning circle, this means it a great city chugger and will manoeuvre around town effortlessly and swiftly. An ideal family option, the 1.2 engine has more than enough heart to carry family and cruise over steep hills and r long distances (the fuel efficiency means that you can squeeze in an extra holiday over a long weekend). The Suzuki Dzire is a fun family vehicle with a spacious interior, plenty of specs and remarkable drivability to label it not only as an affordable option to buy in the market, but to also qualify it as a true value for money vehicle.
