Bon Voyage

Peugeot’s 3008 range is excelling with sales and customer satisfaction, it has to if it earned the 2017 Car of the Year title, so it comes as no surprise that the French would bring out a spunkier and livelier version. Enter the GT Line+… Its funky-fresh with a hot engine, new features and a flashy attitude.

The Concept

This crossover SUV is ideal for the stylish mom who wants to make a statement but also keep her family safe on the road. It’s multifunctional to accommodate dynamic lifestyles and will assure you of many, many action-packed trips in the city as well as on the long haul.

The Look

Bon Appetite… and with that I mean eat your heart out with this vehicle’s gorgeous design. It oozing charm and appeal with attractive embellishments such as a stunning set of 19-inch Washington alloys and diamond black roof. Roof rails hints at its athletic ability and it’s also a helpful reminder that it’s not only seriously sexy but it’s also functional and able to accommodate the family. Double chrome exhaust tail pipes highlights the 3008’s athleticism and its GT capability is found in elegant writing on the tailgate as well as on the front wings as if to say hey! I’m sporty too! The front end is distinctive with a chequered style grille, the signature roaring lion and dazzling headlights that are highlighted by a skinny light line which runs deep into the vehicle’s profile.

The 3008 has full LED Technology with Automatic Headlights, LED Front Fog Lights with Cornering, Follow-Me-Home Lights and LED Daytime Running. Standard on all models are the advanced tech nicieties like heated electric and Folding Mirrors which also boasts a LED Projection of the Peugeot Lion, the Peugeot 3008 makes to be a terrific vehicle. It’s also available in Coupe Franche, which is just fancy French for being Bi-Coloured or two-toned. Buyers can choose between three paint colours to personalise their Peugeot to suit their personalities.

The Feel

The interior continues with the stylish design theme- the GT is elevated by sporty seats highlighted in Nappa mistral leathering. Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, Front and Rear Electric Windows, leather cladding on the steering wheel and on the handbrake compliments the cabin rather nicely. The multifunctional steering wheel has Height and Depth Adjustability and the driver’s pleasure is furthered by Height Adjustable Seats and Lumbar Support. I must say that Peugeot have out  done themselves  with the outlay of the cabin- its solid, sturdy and well put together with rich coverings. This makes for a high-end and quality finish which is easily picked up with the swipe of a finger. My favourite feature, which had the kiddies all starry-eyed, is the Ambient LED lighting which basked the cabin in luxury and sophistication. When driving a French vehicle, you are guaranteed to enjoy it- so why not enjoy it a bit more? Equip it with an optional opening glass roof with electric blind and stunning ambient lighting to intensify your pleasurable experience.

The Features

The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is enhanced with MP3, Bluetooth Connectivity, Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay, USB, Voice Recognition, Navigation and six speakers to connect you to your vehicle and ensure fun throughout the trip. Three 12V power sockets and a Wireless Charging platform also ensures that you’re always connected to your smart devices.

Hill Assist, Keyless Entry, Start-Stop Button, Automatic Wipers with Rain Sensor and an Electrochrome Rear View Mirror have all been incorporated to fill the drive with fun and convenience. I must say that I like the fact that the 3008 has a parking aid in the front and in the rear, it also has a Visionpark 180-degree vision camera. This means that you will be jamming this Frenchie into the smallest of spaces and you will do this while looking like a pro!

With regards to safety, all the  basics are covered  which including Driver and Passenger Front Airbags, Curtain Airbags, Side Airbags, ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist, Cruise Control with Speed Limiter, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and an Electric Child Locking System as standard. Additionally, it has many advanced safety features such as Road Sign Detectection, Driver Attention Alert Level 1, Lane Departure Warning, Electronic Stability Programme, Speed Limit Information & Intelligent Speed Adaptation and Driver Attention Alert. Anti-theft Alarm System with Anti-Lifting, Automatic Drive-Away Locking and Central Locking ensures that your baby will be guarded against sneaky robbers -  because we know this vehicle is very alluring and many would want one but they will have to buy their own!

The Drive

The 3008 in armed with a 1.6 THP engine that allows it to produce 121kW of power and 240Nm of torque. It operated by a six speed automatic transmission that allows for suave city driving and many living it up moments. Its GT status also comes with a bit of spunk and this is clear when you’re behind the wheel. The 3008 GT has a fuel consumption of 7.0-litre per 100km which is quite reasonable for vehicle of it size. I have no complains about the 3008’s driving experience- its stable, solid and silky smooth but the cabin already hinted at that. The steering wheel is accurate and with a nudge on the accelerator, plenty of might is pushed through to allow you quick and effortless overtakes. I am positive that anyone who chooses to have a 3008 as their own, would have a bon voyage.
