X-plosively refined

The name is XF, Jaguar XF. If you’re wondering why I would imitate a well-known super spy catch phrase with a vehicle, you most probably haven’t seen the newest XF. I have and that’s why I can confidently say that my dear fictional friend, James would definitely have featured this car in one of his dramatic get away scenes, with an elaborate explosion while heading out, of course. The Jaguar XF is serious when it comes to luxury and refinement and since a 2016 facelift, it’s only gotten more bewitching.

The Concept

Let’s be real, this sophisticated sedan can fit a small family but it’s rather unlikely that they would purchase it. If you would like to be noticed and make your presence known, then the XF is what you need. It will make a statement for you and that is why I think it’s exceptionally suited for the executive businesswoman.

The Look

The Jaguar XF drips with swagger and reminds me of a prowling puma with its sleek lines and distinctive regal features. Xenon LED headlights aren’t just gorgeously adorned with the ‘J’ blade but also features Daytime Running and a power wash feature. Redesigned and inspired by the F-type, the head and taillights aren’t only partial LED’s but they also look funky-fresh and seriously sophisticated. The XF’s silhouette has also been tweaked, it’s shorter now with a stretched wheelbase (more legroom for tall folks which is a big YAY!) and a front overhang that has been snipped by 66-milimeters. 19-inch alloys, glossy black side sills and a rear spoiler gives this sedan an athletic quality.

The Feel

The cabin is also tastefully designed with Jaguar’s signature ‘Riva Hoop’ instrument panel, Ambient Interior Lighting and perforated grained leather S embossed sport seats. The XF’s features include a gear-selector that can pop-out of the centre console and air-vents that is synched with the ignition to open or close is not only an awe-able but also shows Jaguar’s forward-thinking engineering. It’s laid back and relaxed theme continues to the rear- thanks to its lengthened wheelbase means that there is more legroom especially for rear passengers allowing them to comfortably stretch out and enjoy the ride. A 40:20:40 rear seat split also allows more configuration and so more flexibility for you when hauling bulky items that won’t fit into the boot. An automatic tailgate also allows you quick and convenient access to the spacious boot even more so when the seats are folded.

The Features

The 10-inch Touch Pro is equipped with USB, Auxiliary input, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth Connectivity and a Meridian Sound System. For your convenience, the XF is equipped with Intelligent Stop/Start system, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, rain sensing windscreen wipers, heated and electronic exterior door mirrors, dual-zone Climate Control, a heated rear windscreen and a Jaguar Smart Key System. Along with many other features such as Hill Launch Assist, Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), Emergency Brake Assist, driver and front passenger airbags as well as front side and full length side window curtains, Vectoring by Braking, JaguarDrive Control with Eco, Dynamic, Normal and Rain, Ice, Snow Mode, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control, Trailer Stability Assist, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and power operated child locks is included to ensure that you and your passengers are always protected.

The Drive

This 3.0 litre engine can produce an impressive 280kW of power and 450Nm of torque. Considering its sporty performance, it has a notable fuel consumption of 8.3-litre per 100km - this is due to the engine being completely constructed of aluminium and intuitive technology such as the start-stop function. Speaking of the all-aluminium benefits, the XF is has also undergone strict dieting to lose weight with this light-weight metal - so it’s much more nimble and truly lives up to its feline naming as it prowls down the road with absolute grace, and finesse. It’s composed, offers an agile drive and is highly impressive in terms of responsiveness and steering, but that’s nothing new to this premium brand. The eight speed ZF automatic transmission is also highly appreciated on this luxury vehicle. I must say it is also extremely sensitive and with just the nudge of a foot, you’ll be cruising down the highway with a satisfied smile on your face. Something interesting I learned from this vehicle is that it’s one of the lowest in its segment when speaking about its impressive drag co-efficiency. This means that it has minimal wind noise and the ride is highly grand, all thanks to Jaguar’s intuitive and advanced aerodynamic designing. The underside is smoothed out and the front bumper redesigned to provide you with just that, typical Jaguar.
