Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) has been in partnership with Raizcorp since April 2011 to develop the Volkswagen Business Support Centre in Kariega. Established to help and guide local entrepreneurs, the centre has aided 100 entrepreneurs and has seen them generate an R516 million turnover for Eastern Cape.

This also snowballed into more job opportunities- 578 new jobs to be exact. This means that there is a total of 1 389 employees and so the centre has touched 4 445 lives. These are people like Mosa Dikobo, owner of Citrus Green Solutions who has been receiving guidance since December 2016. His company now has six branches throughout the country where he has 200 people working for him.

“I am grateful to Raizcorp and the Volkswagen Business Support Centre who still keep in touch with me, even though I’ve graduated from the programme,” said Dikobo. “VWSA played an invaluable role in the training we received. I honestly believe if I hadn’t been part of the programme, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

The partnership between VWSA and Raizcorp has been extended for another 3 years and this means plenty more promising opportunities for the future of the Eastern Cape.

“This partnership has proven its value time and time again, through the impact the Business Support Centre has had in the community,” said Nonkqubela Maliza, Director for Corporate and Government Affairs at VWSA. “Enterprise development is one of our key priorities at the Volkswagen Community Trust - with the aim of not only advising entrepreneurs, but equipping them with the tools to become economic role-players and job creators in their own right.”
