Mahindra invites South-Africans to commemorate everyday heroes
Mahindra South-Africa would like to credit essential workers who are selflessly surrendering their time and energy by putting themselves in harm’s way to support their fellow South-Africans during the global covid-19 outbreak.
The motoring manufacturing company has launched a Hero Campaign where its dealer network, employees, suppliers and fellow South-Africans can get involved by sharing their noble stories as well as thank these everyday South-African heroes.
Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South-Africa, noted that we all have heard of numerous South-Africans who have sacrificed precious family time and their health to support their countrymen. This includes not only health care workers but also the plentiful essential services who help by keeping us safe and our food supply well-stocked. He inspiringly stated that, like a candle, these essential worker are selflessly burning themselves out to provide light and warmth to their fellow South-Africans.
As Mahindra is a vehicle supplier to several essential services, including municipalities, policemen and women, the military and healthcare services, they have dedicated to have a core network of dealers open to assist throughout these troubling time.
Mahindra has also protracted its support elsewhere. India, for instance, is producing critical medical equipment and protective clothing.
"Throughout our many global divisions and affiliates, we have been sharing stories of heroes who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve their fellow countrymen. These stories all resonate with our corporate ethos of 'Rise', where we commit to rising above our circumstances to support our customers and to grow. It is in light of this, and as a simple act of gratitude that we would like to light a candle for our essential services," says Rajesh.
For the following week, the company will encourage all to light a candle and personally express their gratitude towards any essential workers that they know or come into contact with.
They hope that this diminutive appreciation act will have a snowball effect and so motivate essential workers in staying focused during the lockdown. On the 14th of April at 20:00 they will close the campaign with an exceptional candle-lighting ceremony on social media.
Rajesh says that Mahndra, its dealers, suppliers and friends will all light a candle and let it burn in doorway, on balconies or in homes to honour every galant act during the lockdown. The company encourages all to consider the essential workers who have supported everyone during this upsetting period.
South Africans who wishes to contribute are welcomed to join the discussion by using the tags #AlwaysUpForAChallenge, #MahindraSA and #WithYouAlways, and so permit Mahindra to share their thoughts.
