Kute, Kompact KUV

There exists a little vehicle that is so adorable, so completely unlike any other on the road, that once you see it, you will be able to recognise it a mile away. That vehicle is the Mahindra KUV. On show at the Mahindra Benoni Dealership, the KUV’s distinctive look and amazing economy is what Jacques Bornman, Sales Executive feels makes it so exceptional. Under the capable leadership of Riaan Wessels, General Manager, this Dealership is known for its expertise and hospitality.

The Concept:

The smallest compact crossover-SUV from the Mahindra, the KUV is designed to be an efficient, reliable vehicle.

The Looks:

This is one of the most distinctive cars on the road, in my humble opinion. Adorably-sized, the KUV has quite a bold and muscular look, with strong lines and an assertive stance. Sunglasses-inspired headlamps are a funky addition, and the interior is lovely, neat and quite cheerful on the whole.

The Feel:

Designers have gone to a great deal of trouble to make this crossover-SUV feel spacious and comfortable, despite being compact in size. The interior boasts sporty black finishes and high-quality upholstery, and was quite a hit with my kids. There is a definite appeal to this little car!

The Features:

So, this little car is small, but it is big on features. I am in love with the thoughtful storage cubbies (that include underfloor and under-seat bins that not only keep your valuables safely out of sight, but really just speak volumes about the designers drive to make things convenient for you). Retractable side mirrors with integrated turning signals show the modern touches, and the 7-inch touchscreen with navigation system is really user-friendly and can be added on in the entry level model. The KUV K2+ 1.2 litre petrol has all the bases covered in this regard!

The Drive:

A robust 1.2 litre petrol engine on the KUV K2+ produces 61kW of power and 115 Nm of torque, which would be perfectly suited to those that – like me – have to brave ridiculous traffic on a daily basis. Using only 5.9 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, the preppy little KUV is pretty good for the budget too. With ABS, EBD and dual airbags, your safety has also been prioritised.

The Score:

With a fantastic starting price of R134 999, the KUV’s economical nature scores it at 7.5 crowns out of 10.
